Hello again. It’s been a long time.
Today, a short update on how things are, regarding Netflix and aspect ratios:
They are just like they used to be before I started this blog.
That’s right. All that about Netflix finally doing something, recognizing there is a problem, replacing titles? It isn’t happening anymore. Really, I can’t remember when was the last time I checked my list and found that a movie had been replaced. Probably more than six months ago. Not only that, there are plenty of wrong versions among the new releases too.
Was it too naive to think that Netflix would keep working on solving this problem just like that, without an “online outrage” unleashing every week?
Maybe, I don’t know.
I know what I’m going to do next. If things are like they used to be a year ago, I’ll do what I used to do a year ago:
I’ll go back to posting screenshots.
I’m starting tomorrow. Now, I want to remind you of the statement Netflix gave to the media:
"We do not crop. We want to offer the best picture and provide the original aspect ratio of any title on Netflix. However, unfortunately our quality controls sometimes fail and we end up offering the wrong version of a title. When we discover this error, we replace that title as soon as possible.”
Yeah, it’s time to get angry again.
Thank you very much.
